Golden Lane Estate

SP have been appointed by City of London to carry out feasibility work for the refurbishment of the community centre building and lower levels of Great Arthur House at the Golden Lane Estate, London. We are very excited by the opportunity to work on an iconic, post-war housing exemplar.

Swanage Pier Regeneration

SP are very pleased to have been chosen through a limited competition as Lead Designer for Round 2 of the Swanage Pier Regeneration Project. We are looking forward to working with the Swanage Pier Trust and volunteers to improve the welcome and access to the pier and refurbish grade II listed Marine Villas.

The Victorian pier looks as glorious today as it might have over 100 years ago thanks to the Swanage Pier Trust, an independent charity funded by voluntary donations with just two paid members of staff, and their hard working volunteers and supporters. This short video shows how the pier got back on its feet after storm damage on the night of Monday 11th March 2013. Have a look at the Trust's website to find out about the history of the pier and their efforts to raise £400,000 in match funding.

The entire Studio Partington office enjoyed a cycling tour of Cambridge last Friday (both cycling enthusiasts and novices). The study trip included visits to the Abode and Accordia housing developments.

Derwenthorpe Construction Progress

The construction of Temple Avenue and Fifth Avenue at Derwenthorpe is progressing at pace. Every house within the Temple Avenue quarter is now either complete or under construction.

Derwenthorpe Central Area Design Workshop

A public consultation was held on Monday afternoon for the design of the central square and new mixed use building next to the Energy Centre at Derwenthorpe. It is anticipated that the central area will provide spaces for community use and local groups providing a focal point for the Derwenthorpe development.

Holmewood House School Construction Begins

Construction of Studio Partington's learning hub, cafe and dining hall at Holmewood House School has started. The photograph shows the demolition of temporary classrooms in the foreground with the listed 19th century mansion behind.

Morton Road planning approval

Three new social rent homes for Islington Council have today been granted planning permission. The new buildings and assosciated landscaping will rejuvenate the existing site; a disused car park, helping to create a safer environment for local residents.

The Chocolate Works Launch Event

David Wilson Homes held a champagne reception on 16th July to launch the Chocolate Works development in the popular South Bank area of York. Visitors were able to view the new Visitor Centre and two bedroom show apartment. Our photograph shows Blocks A and B elevations facing into the site nearing completion.

  • Architectural Assistants (Part I or II) who have either recently graduated and can demonstrate a stong level of design through academic work, or have experience working on design-led residential and mixed use scheme (from pre-planning through to completition).
  • Recently qualified architects with good, UK based, experience of design-led residential and mixed use projects.

Windsor Street public consultation

A public consultation was held last night for the development of supported living accommodation at Windsor Street in Islington. The scheme proposes 12 residential units for people with high needs learning difficulties, together with communal and staff facilities. 

The brief and proposal have been developed through ongoing consultation with the housing and adult social services department of Islington Council.

London to Brighton Bike Ride 2015

Colin, Richard and Stuart completed the London to Brighton Bike Ride 2015. Some of them even made it to the top of Ditchling Beacon without stopping. Togther they raised about £800 for the British Heart Foundation. Well done!

Andover Estate regeneration

Studio Partington have been selected to undertake the community-led regeneration of the Andover Estate in Islington, following an invited competition. This ambitious and innovative scheme is different by virtue of having been initiated by the local community and aims to deliver new homes and wider benefits, including job and training opportunities for local people, and new and improved community facilities for residents of one of Islington Council's most deprived estates and the wider neighbourhood.

Studio Partington is the new name for Richards Partington Architects. Our name change is a better reflection of our design approach and a change of the office structure; with Colin, Adam and Victoria  joining Richard as directors. 

Studio Partington provides a bespoke service across several disciplines (architecture, urbanism, environment and research), delivered from a single co-ordinated studio. Our work is collaborative, creative and inter-disciplinary.  Please take a look through our new website, hope you like it.

Peckham Road starts on site

Studio Partington's latest scheme for TLS investments, Peckham Road has recently started on site. Situated adjacent to the Brutalist Camberwell College of Arts Building, the scheme will provide nine new residential apartments and a large retail unit, on the site of a former petrol station.

Putney Plaza Topping Out

Today saw the topping out of Putney Plaza.  In a short ceremony Ken Parker (client and managing director of Art Estates) and Kevin Keegan (managing director of Midgard) laid the final section of concrete to the top of Beacon Tower.  It was a beautiful day which highlighted the stunning views from the development as well as Blocks C and D which are nearing completion.

Studio Partington's latest guide for the NHBC, Homes Through The Decades was launched yesterday at the Geffrye Museum in Hoxton. The guide showcases the fascinating evolution of the modern home throughout the past century, exploring how construction & design have continually adapted to changes in society, politics and technology.

Park Farm planning approval

Planning approval has been granted for the redevelopment of an existing farmhouse, and construction of an additional 14 homes, in the historic farming village of Skipwith, Yorkshire. The proposal for Park Farm has been carefully designed to reflect the character of the original farmstead, with buildings clustered around courtyard spaces and with roofs orientated in much the same direction as the previous farm buildings. The views towards the fields from the original farmyard, particularly looking south to the Common, are retained within the scheme.

Putney Plaza Block D

Good progress is being made on the construction of Putney Plaza, our £33 million mixed-use, mixed-tenure, high-rise project in south London. The scaffolding is currently coming down to reveal the facades as the works move on to the next stage.

Haydon’s Road planning approval

Studio Partington's proposal for 9 unit residential scheme at Haydon's Road in south London, has today been granted planning approval. The designs seek to repair the urban fabric and street frontage, replacing a dilapidated petrol station and forecourt.

Camden Road planning submission

A planning application for a new centre for Islington Arts Factory and new residential accommodation on Camden Road has been submitted to Islington Council, on behalf of City of London corporation.

The proposals include the redevelopment of the former Camden Road New Church and Sunday School buildings – currently used by the Arts Factory. The arts organisation, who have been long standing tenants on the site will move to a new building on the site, allowing for the refurbishment of the existing buildings. As well as the new multi-arts centre with dance space, gallery, arts and music studios, the proposals also include 20 new apartments for social rent and 9 apartments for private sale.
