Parkmount is an energy efficient urban housing scheme helping to regenerate a neglected corner of north Belfast. The arc of the buildings responds to the dramatic landscape of the site, creating a sheltered communal space between the building and the wooded hill to the west.
The project provides healthy and cost effective housing using reliable technical solutions that are economical to run and maintain, including an array of 70 square metres of grid-connected photovoltaic panels. This approach can also be applied to all of the low rise units in the future, as the step-up in building heights maximises the daylight potential for the photovoltaic panels by preventing overshadowing.
