Studio Partington was one of the five teams shortlisted for the RIBA organised competition on behalf of the Shinfield Parish Council and Wokingham Borough Council.

A community space should be purposeful, functional and adaptable. We have developed our proposal with the aim of making a building that is a delight to use with spaces that are uplifting and inspiring.

The aspiration for a fully adaptable building is balanced by the need to make cost-effective and low-maintenance spaces, that can be heated and lit efficiently and simple to use by all. It should be an optimistic building nurturing networks, associations and the uses of an emerging community. The building itself is a marker on the corner of the green with a recognisable presence and civic purpose and is configured to meet the needs of the local community including a multi purpose hall, cafe, crèche with council offices and meeting rooms.
